High-contact 1:1 mentorship

Group outings with other scholars

Community support

Access to mental health services

Housing assistance

Transportation assistance

Financial literacy support

Career readiness guidance

Through these supports, Winston Rhea strives to guide our scholars to thrive as they enter adulthood. We want our scholars to confidently take chances, make mistakes to learn from them, and be the best versions of themselves!

Winston Rhea Scholars x Delgado Community College: Mentor Up!

Winston Rhea, in partnership with Delgado Community College, has launched the Mentor Up! Initiative! Designed specifically to empower former foster youth, this program pairs Delgado students with a dedicated 1:1 faculty or staff mentor, provides tailored personal and professional development programming, and grants full access to all Winston Rhea community events.

So far, Mentor Up!’s Impact & Student Benefits:

  • Financial Success: Helped multiple students unlock over $10,000 in Chaffee Grant funding and set up long-term wealth tools like Roth IRAs alongside core financial literacy training.

  • Essential Resources: Provided critical academic tools and basic needs support; including laptops and transportation assistance, ensuring students have what they need to succeed.*

  • Dedicated Mentorship: Matched students directly with Delgado campus leaders who guide them through their academic journey.
